The 2012 UEFA European Football Championship, commonly referred to as Euro 2012, was the 14th European Championship for national football teams organised by UEFA. The final tournament was hosted for the first time by Poland and Ukraine, between 8 June and 1 July 2012, after their bid was chosen by UEFA's Executive Committee in 2007. Euro 2012 set the record for both the highest aggregate attendance (1,440,896) and the highest average attendance per game (46,481) under the 16-team format (since 1996).
The final tournament featured 16 nations, the last European Championship to do so; from Euro 2016 onward, there will be 24 finalists. Qualification was contested by 51 nations between August 2010 and November 2011 to determine the remaining 14 finalists. The tournament was played across eight venues, four in each host country, five of which were newly built for the tournament. Aside from venues, the host nations have also invested heavily in improving infrastructure, such as railways and roads, at UEFA's request.
In the final match at the Olympic Stadium in Kiev, Ukraine, Spain defended their title with a 4–0 win over Italy. Spain became the first team to win two consecutive European Championships, and the first international team to win three straight major tournament titles (Euro 2008, 2010 World Cup and Euro 2012). Since Spain had already gained entry to the 2013 Confederations Cup by winning the 2010 World Cup, the runners-up Italy qualified.
Euro 2012 was the second consecutive European Championship (after Euro 2008 held in Austria and Switzerland) in which neither of the hosts emerged from the group stage, as both Poland and Ukraine were eliminated.
Gameplay
The expansion features an all-new game mode, Expedition Mode (similar to World Tour mode from FIFA Street), where players create a customized team to bid against the European nations. Players can import their Virtual Pro into the mode. The Story of the Finals scenario mode from 2010 FIFA World Cup South Africa returns in a form similar to normal FIFA 12 Football Club scenarios.
The game includes all 53 UEFA-member nations, although 24 of them are unlicensed, including co-hosts Ukraine. One user can play through the UEFA Euro 2012 finals. All 8 official stadiums of the tournament are included in the game.
Perhaps too often the FIFA World Cup and UEFA Euro game is only slightly modified versions of the same game engine with new fancy graphics and fewer features. But not so here, because this is a downloadable game content for fans of FIFA football.
Great machine, looks good
Superficially, it ticks the right boxes. However, it also carries a large bag-for-life filled to the brim with a warning, some are just annoying, others can not be justified.
Glitchy and sometimes without permission
Small problems, such as the occasional error, the inability to choose your own squad of greater roster of players - you're stuck with whatever is the current squad, download as and when necessary - and the elimination round of qualifiers can be ignored. But, the fact that 24 of the 53 teams still playing without a permit - including one of the real host, Ukraine - is staggering.
For countries not covered in the existing license FIFPro EA, or register an individual, made-up names of players and kit version is expected to replace the real world. It makes for a very strange "officially licensed" the experience of UEFA Euro 2012 when almost half of the content is difficult to understand. Decision
